Svalbard Blålys
The islands of Svalbard are located in the Arctic Ocean just between Norway and the North Pole. It is the world’s most northerly inhabited region, yet there are more polar bears than people living there. One road is located in the main settlement. The rest is pristine wilderness, only accessible by foot, snowmobile or boat. Due to the permafrost -the ice under the ground-, death is not allowed as there is no burial. Life is not possible either, as there is a sole small hospital that never gives birth to children. (…) Maybe the end of the world is a unique place that allows magic and fantasy. A white canvas to draw everlasting existence. I wish I could become the seed of an exotic plant that vanished millions of years ago so that I could have a little corner in the cold depths of the icy ground where I would be forever alive.
