Pancho Lasso. Primer escultor de Lanzarote.
Pancho Lasso was the first and most important sculptor born in Lanzarote. He trained in Madrid and became a very active member of one of the avant-garde movements in pre-war Spanish art: the Vallecas School. Throughout his long career, he developed various genres (sculpture, drawing, medal making and painting) in different styles (neo-cubism, telluric surrealism, popular realism...), but without losing his artistic and ideological coherence based on the union of two essential principles: social commitment and love for his native island, an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
