La Palma. Guía de senderos y naturaleza. Hiking guide.
In this work, biologist Juan Manuel Martínez Carmona offers us a practical tool for gaining a comprehensive understanding of the territory and history of La Palma. A hiking guide designed specifically for the island, allowing you to delve into the nature and culture of an ‘island of islands’ that combines multiple spaces: from unique coastal strips to high mountain areas, passing through dry areas, wooded and laurel forests, historic towns and extensive agricultural land.
This guide explores a World Biosphere Reserve of enormous natural, cultural and scenic wealth through 19 essential routes, plus 7 variants, suitable for all levels. Each trail is accompanied by explanatory technical data sheets, maps, profiles and extensive texts on the environment, geology, ethnography, history and archaeology. There is also an extensive chapter with general information about the island and detailed indexes of flora and fauna. The book includes more than 150 photographs by authors such as Rubén Acosta, Beneharo Rodríguez, Abián San Gil, Gerardo García Casanova and Volker Boehlke.
The entire work has been updated to reflect the changes caused by the latest volcanic eruption.
The ultimate goal of this book, as with the entire hiking guide collection published by Ediciones Remotas, is to raise awareness of La Palma's rich heritage, promoting truly sustainable enjoyment of its territory and a strong commitment to its conservation.
