Aquellar de la lluvia

In Aquellar de la lluvia the author rescues an old word in disuse, such as the verb “aquellar”, which is used to express any action that is ignored and/or not remembered... A title that evokes in itself not only a certain nostalgia in relation to the language and/or the lived, but also an opening of possible notions towards the rain. Concepts deeply rooted in the landscape, both territorially and in terms of the human that inhabits it. Perhaps that is why the sensitive gaze of the writer Angel Sanchez, in his prologue to this edition, says: “If the landscape that Macarena Nieves' retina has as a riddle to decipher in its geological and life-sustaining variety - a transubstantiation of her fluid consciousness - I tend to believe that the material landscape, deconstructed as poetic thought is in this book the intimate matter itself exposed in some verses of slow rhythm and spatiality already usual in her previous titles”. The book is divided into three main parts: Augurios de piedra, Aquellar de la lluvia and Árboles lloran por lluvia, although, in truth, there is a preamble to the aquellar and an epilogue to the aquellar that, indistinctly, wrap the poetic body of this collection of poems, finalist in the Tomás Morales 2021 International Poetry Prize.
