Zoe takes Geo for breakfast at Hermanas Martínez. There, they discover the mugs, plates and water bottles by Estudio Vernís. Geo and Zoe go to visit Estudio Vernís. Geo and Zoe fall in love with the work created by Ale and Coke. Uf, pero profundamente.
It's hard to describe what this creative couple does. "Ceramics" doesn’t quite do it justice. Ale and Coke are two architects who decided to put their talent to work with clay. They designed their own wood-kiln, draw up plans, study volume and the chemistry of materials, and embrace inspiration from light, colours and textures around them.
However, the following lines are intended to give you an insight into their way of life. I’ll fail in this attempt, I can tell you that much already. Setting up a pottery studio in the middle of the mountains is a statement of intent. Travelling there is an act of faith.
Among their pieces, the highly functional tableware stands out: large dinner plates, stackable cups for baristas and coffee enthusiasts, unique water bottles and jugs. But above all, their vision goes further: ceramic wine bottles, a redesign of classic porcelain insulators, flame-fired lighting designs, hand basins and many other unique objetcs.
