This is a story about el Camino de Davinia and her handmade cups.
We’ve mentioned Davinia to you many times. She’s an engineer and an interior designer. Could that be the perfect combination for a career in ceramics? Well, it certainly was, and for the past few years she’s been signing her pieces under the name @un_______espacio.
Davinia lives in Bajamar, Tenerife, where we met her before moving to Lanzarote. She runs her own ceramic atelier, creates her pieces, teaches other people and collaborate with other creative projects. Here you can see her at our studio:
So, the thing is, Davinia went back to the Camino de Santiago with her friends 😎, this time to walk a new section.
Over the past few months, she developed a model called T025-D. Glazed and kiln-fired. Handmade from high-temperature stoneware. Ivory in colour with natural flecks. With a handle built to last for kilometres.
She made a batch of them, which she took with her. This is where the story begins. ✨
Ferrol, Pontedeume, Betanzos, Sigüeiro… and on all the way to Santiago. It’s easy to make friends over a cup of coffee. Who can say no to a good, freshly brewed coffee? 😉 But let me ask you a question:
What would you do if, one morning when you woke up at the hostel, you found a mug tied to your bag?

This is the T025-D project.
During her time on the Camino, Davinia would place ceramic mugs in the rucksacks of those who had been important to her. As a gesture of gratitude; a way of saying ‘see you soon’. Made anonymously, this simple object would accompany those chosen on their journey. They would even recognise one another, perhaps helping to forge new personal connections. "It’s easy to make friends over a cup of coffee" Davinia though once again, don't you agree? 🙂
So, next time you wake up in a pilgrims’ hostel, have a look in your rucksack. You might find a T025-D strapped to it. 💫
‘On the Camino de Santiago,
there is a story that nobody has written about.
It doesn’t appear in the guidebooks.
Not all pilgrims know about it.
And perhaps it never even happened.
Some claim to have woken up one morning to find
a ceramic cup tied to their rucksack.
No one saw who left it.
There’s no note attached.
There’s no name on it.
Just a small mark engraved on the base.
But as the days go by, those chosen begin to recall the conversations from the last few kilometres: that woman who made coffee for everyone when it was raining, the person who listened more than they spoke, the artisan who was carrying a rucksack that was far too heavy yet always smiled in the same way.
Then they understand.
The cup was never a random gift.
It was the start of a new Camino.’
