Part 3.
You met the horses. Let's talk about waves. It’s been a tough few days – we’re not going to lie to you. That’s the thing about the forces of nature, isn’t it? They’re unpredictable.
Here we have Coke and Jérôme. It’s important that there’s good communication within this trio: rider – water photographer – land film maker. On the one hand, Coke and Jérôme need to coordinate so they can stay close to each other in the water. The sea off these French breakpoints is rough, the current doesn’t make things easy, and fatigue in the water works against them.
Meanwhile, Kike and Jérôme do the same, managing to spot him 300 metres from the shore. Without the 400mm telephoto lens, it’s literally impossible to make out anyone clearly in the water. Surfers are like black notes in the middle of a stave, remember that 😉?
Ah! By the way, Luc Rolland – who’s a friend of Coke’s – came over to say hello.
The conditions weren’t great. We found the sea windy and choppy, with irregular, inconsistent walls. On the first day, it was chaotic and disorganised. On the second day, there was a strong swell with enough power and size for guns (surfboards for big waves). Surfing – nothing new.
Surfing is a sport of guesswork.
Will it be better over there? Shall we wait until this afternoon? Will it get better at high tide? What’s the forecast for tomorrow? Shall we take the other board? Shall we go and have an ice cream instead? haha 🤦
So we arranged some interviews with people close to Jérôme: Mascha – we’ve mentioned her many times ♥️ – Bagé – a friend of his with whom he shares some great moments in the water – and Alexandra – the owner of the horses and the premises where Jérôme works with them. (Check part 1 for more info ;)

For our part, we’d like to thank everyone once again for the warmth behind this project. To Jérôme, for the adventure and for letting us accompany him in his day-to-day life. To Kike and Coke for taking on new challenges, for their enthusiasm and for the laughter throughout the journey. Also to Mascha – it’s a pleasure spending time together.
