Week 2

When you’re a bit obsessed with waves, you see waves where there aren’t any. Doesn’t that happen to you? Those little shore breaks are massive barrels*.
*If you were 20 centimetres tall, that is. 🤦🏽♂️
We also see a tie dye there, maybe a bit obsessed bringing you the nicest designs? That is possible too. Double facepalm. 🤦🏽♀️

So here we are. Your two trusted life enthusiasts.
✌️
We were a bit worried about the cold, we won’t deny it. We’ve got a bit spoilt by the mild temperatures of the Canary Islands; by surfing in a 2/2mm wetsuit all year round in Lanzarote – haha, well, Geo prefers the timeless warmth of a 4/3 wetsuit-; and by trade winds (Los Alisios, amigo) that are stronger than they are cold.
However, southern Portugal is treating us to some lovely days. In the Algarve, we’ve spent a few days in the golden triangle where time stands still: Mareta-Tonel-Beliche.

Morning runs along the cliff edge, dips in the sea at beaches with fine yellow sand, the odd speciality coffee and some delicious ice creams. We’ve been back for more of everything, so they’ve made it onto our list of recommendations:
- ☕️ PICNIC SAGRES. Specialty Coffee, bread and other delicious options. With a few magazines and books and some local wines. Nice mix.
- 🍦 ALICE GELATERIA. Home made ice creams. Creamy, tasty, with classic and creative options. We tried: pistacho, dark chocolate and stracciatella. Strawberry and lemon were very nice. And they had a few more flavours like salted peanuts or a cinnamon one.

In Portugal, you always come across beautiful tiled façades. They’re not just in Porto or Lisbon; ceramics are a common feature throughout the country. This is not Portugal, but it reminds me of some photos we took the other day. Here’s a link to the garments, in case you’d like to have a look*.
We both wear the LXL sizes. Geo is 180 cm tall. Zoe is 183 cm.

Let’s continue with the route. Our next stop along the Portuguese coast was Arrifana. Another beautiful beach opening out onto the Atlantic, sheltered by the cliffs. The walk down to the beach is a good warm-up. If I may offer a tip: take everything you need to spend the day there. Put your mobile on flight mode. Have a swim, pop out for a bite to eat, then have a second swim at a different spot.

One last tip for the area. In her tireless search for a good cup of coffee, Geo stumbled across this place: Toxic Magic. 🪄 Caffeine, alcohol, some vintage clothes and a few reads including the odd must-read such as Wasted Talent magazine.

By the way, all your orders are being dispatched as usual – we’re still going strong from afar. Thank you so much for your support!
